Dhurandhar 2 Breaks Box Office Records: ₹500 Crore in Just 10 Days
The Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi sequel becomes the fastest Indian film to cross ₹500 crore, despite battling piracy and online leaks.
Rohit Shetty's Dhurandhar 2 has shattered box office records, crossing the ₹500 crore worldwide gross mark in just 10 days of release. The action-comedy sequel, starring Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi, opened to the highest single-day collection ever for a Hindi film at ₹78 crore.
The film's success comes despite a significant piracy challenge — high-quality prints were leaked online within 48 hours of release, prompting the Bombay High Court to issue a John Doe order demanding takedowns across 150+ piracy domains.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh called it "a phenomenon, not just a film" and projected a lifetime collection of ₹800-900 crore worldwide. The film's success has revitalised the theatrical release model at a time when OTT platforms were dominating consumption.
Producer Jio Studios has already greenlit Dhurandhar 3, with production expected to begin in late 2026.
